How to test a washing machine motor AC
Here is a step by step guide of the process:
How to test a washing machine motor
This video is on how to wire a washing machine motor AC direct. This will help you diagnose whether your printed PCB is the fault or the program, by knowing your motor is working correctly you will be able to eliminate this from the proses of why your washing machine has no wash cycle or spin.
How to wire up a 6 pin universal ac 240v motor on a washing machine.

great vid thanks for this!
i HAVE A candy WASHING MACHINE I purchased it in FRANCE my connector pad
has nine connections two reds 5 and 6 go to the Tachometer. the brushes
are Cream and Blue at 4 and 8 Two purples at 1 and 2 go to windings a
black at 3 and an orange at 9 go to windings. and a brown at 7 also has
continuity with orange at 9 It’s a shame there is no world wide standards .
Thanks for your video it’s excellent
Hi had a look on your site for other test rigs that you mention in this
video but cannot see them, could you please add more like this thanks.
Liking the test block.
Thanks thats useful
I have a 17 yr old Indesit WDG1095W and no response from motor, PCB control module looks clean and all good
Have voltage at the various pins on the motor, Checked brushes and comunator all is now good and clean, But motor wont turn
Motor is Indesco 940N2i.01
Wiring config is: 1: Tacho / 2: Tacho / 3: / 4: Red (Into motor loom) / 5: / 6: Brown (into motor loom)
7: Black into 1 brush / 8: Black (into motor loom) Other lead from motor loom go’s to other brush.
Going to wire a rig up to see how I get on, But thinking the windings may have OC
Testing the motor is the first step. they were good machines not built like that any more.
useful video, and entertaining due to the typo on the last page – we help you diagonse your faults 🙂
i have used the info from your vid to hook up my simens version and it
worked well.
thank you 🙂
Tim, I thought you would like this.
I notice that the brushes are mounted at an angle to the commutator in my
motor, and I wonder if you know the reason. When the motor is rotating in
one direction, the commutator will supply a force to the brushes that would
act pretty-well directly against their springs (so no lateral force against
the sides of the brush holders), but in the other direction, there will be
more lateral force than if the brushes were perpendicular to the
commutator. Do you know the reason for the angle?
I’m using it to drive a band saw, so it will always rotate one way, and as
luck would have it, it’s the “wrong” way. There are tapped holes in the
frame of the motor to mount the brushes the other way, but that would
involve turning them upside down so that the curvature of the brush face
would match the curvature of the commutator, but I can’t get the brushes
out of their holders. The angle puzzles me, as washing machines invariably
rotate both ways. Are the brush angles optimised for the high speed
operations (spin)?
Awesome explanation Sir am fan of you the way u did this video.Iam
impressed and also subscribed to ur video.
